PBM Mariner wood airplane model. Often eclipsed by the Fame of the PBY Catalina, the Mariner none the less was an important aircraft performing anti-submarine patrols throughout the Atlantic and the South Pacific. A PBM-3C was responsible for sinking the U-boat which sunk the Ark Royal. A small number served with RAF coastal command in 1943. The PBM-3R variant was used as a transport. Over 500 of these aircraft served during the Korean conflict 1950-1953.
