A6M Zero airplane model. Any discussion about World War II would be incomplete without mentioning the A6M Zero fighter. It was the primary fighter plane operated by the Japanese Naval Forces throughout World War II. It was flown from aircraft carriers and gained great success until its weaknesses were identified and overcome. It lacked armor and protection for its fuel tanks. Although it was improved during the course of the war, it never surpassed the achievements of the American fighter developments.
