Lockheed PV-1 Harpoon airplane model. The Lockheed 37, originally built for the RAF and named Ventura, was then built for the US Army Air Force and the US Navy, being called the PV-1 Ventura for the Navy. The PV-1 was the first version for the US Navy, generally as Ventura MK II, but with reduced defensive armament, modified bomb bay to carry bombs, depth charges or one torpedo, and with search radar, late production had provision for HVAR rockets on underwing launchers, and a few were modified for the US Marine Corps use as night-fighters, equipped with British air interception radar. The PV-1 Ventura had a maximum speed of 322 mph at 13,800 ft, service ceiling of 26,300 ft, and a normal range of 1,360 miles.
